Sideoats Grama, the State Grass of Texas, is found in abundance across pastures where conservation practices have been applied. Even with proper management the land sometimes needs a “helping hand”, including reseeding of native plant species.

After reasonable rains, landowners are trying to determine whether to restock and they are looking to NRCS for guidance on stocking rates. "After the 2011 drought, landowners who sold out and rested the land are seeing an improvement in range health," said Alfredo Muñoz, who performs forage inventories to
determine re-stocking rates.
